Perhaps best known for his relationship with David Bowie, Mike Garson made his mark on numerous Bowie albums. Garson was Bowie's musical director and longest standing member, having travelled hundreds of thousands of miles on Bowie tours.
Mike studied classical composition with Leonard Eisner of Juilliard and earned degrees in Music and Education from Brooklyn College. He also studied with Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Hal Overton, Robert Starer, and Lennie Tristano and has played with other jazz giants including Stanley Clarke, Dave Liebman, Freddie Hubbard, Joe LaBarbera, Elvin Jones, Stan Getz, and Lee Konitz.
Apart from his collaboration with artists like Billy Corgan, Trent Reznor, No Doubt, and the fact that he is called into duty as the secret weapon behind Billboard topping, Grammy lauded albums, tours, and longstanding artist success, he has also composed more than 3,000 classical works, ranging from solo piano, to large ensemble, and orchestral works, performed worldwide.
Mike is the subject of the new international best selling biography of his life, Bowie's Piano Man - The Life of Mike Garson now available digitally on Kindle and at booksellers worldwide.
