Markus Reuter started his relationship with music in 1975. He learned to play the mandolin, the classical guitar, and the piano with various teachers. In the 1980s he wrote his first compositions. In the 1990s he was taught in Robert Fripp's Guitar School, studied with Karlheinz Straetmanns, Gerd Lisken, Daniel Schell, and Pandit Askok Pathak.
Between 1993 and 1996 he was a member of the Chaos Orchester Bielefeld and then he joined Centrozoon and the Europa String Choir.
He's now a member of multiple ongoing bands and projects, playing the Touch Guitar and he's founded a tapping school, the Touch Guitar Circle.
In the 1990s he also received a diploma in psychology from the University of Bielefeld.
In the year 1998 he released his solo debut album and ever since regular publications followed, with Centrozoon, the Europa String Choir, Ian Boddy and several other projects.
In 2005 he founded TUNER with Pat Mastelotto which joined later joined up with Tony Levin to become the trio Stick Men.
In addition, Reuter is working as a music producer and a guitar designer.
