Born in 1951, in Cologne, Wolfgang Niedecken is a musician, a lyricist, and a painter.
From 1970 to 1976 he studied free painting at the FHBK, the Kölner Werkschulen. In 1976 he founded the Kölschrock group BAP. 1981 national breakthrough in German-speaking countries with his 3rd album. There are now 18 studio, 7 live and 5 solo albums by W.N. He has been repeatedly honored for his socio-political engagement.
Among other things with the Federal Cross of Merit 1st class, the international Beethoven Prize and the German Phono Academy with the ECHO for his life's work. In 1992 he co-founded the campaign Arsch huh, Zäng ussenander against racism, since 2004 he is ambassador of Together for Africa and in 2008 he founded the aid organization REBOUND, which supports the re-integration of former child soldiers in Uganda and in Democratic Republic of Congo. Most recently, he recorded his 5th solo album in New Orleans and toured with BAP since May 2018.
