Wolfgang Fuhr was born in Stetten am Kalten Markt. He finished school in Bonn and then studied music in Graz and Cologne, taking his concert exams in 1995. He had a 3 year hiatus, where he studied as an IT-coach in the German Railways and then back to music as a freelance instrumentalist, composer, arranger, producer, and lecturer.
In 2008 he established the record company cart music in Esslinger am Neckar.
Own projects and CD productions: Jazz CD of the year at the MDR, prizewinner of the New German Jazz Prize, 1st place of the jazz charts in Portugal, radio productions for Deutschlandfunk, WDR, and BR, festivals in Krakow, Lisbon, Berlin, Porto, etc.
Compositions for saxophone and string quartet and orchestra (Festival for New Music Maastricht, Kölner Musiknacht, Chamber Orchestra Plochingen).
Works as a lecturer at the Hochschule der media-Akademie in Stuttgart. Musical director, composer and arranger at the theater in Esslingen, lecturer at jazz workshops Bandleader and Side-Man on tour across Europe.
