The composer Violeta Dinescu was born in Bucharest, Rumania
She graduated with distinction in composition, piano and pedagogy (1977) at the Ciprian Poumbescu Conservatory in Bucharest. 1978 -1982 she has held a teaching position for theory of music, piano and aesthetics at the College of Music George Enescu in Bucharest. In 1982 she moved to Germany to work and live.Violeta is presently a composer and a professor (since 1996) at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg where she lives. Since 1996, she has also organized an International Composer Colloquium. She also initiated an archive of New Music at the University. In 2006 she began a series of Symposions at the University called: Zwischen Zeiten / Shifting Times
Her works are much performed at home and abroad. Up to now she has received over 50 international awards of recognition for her work.
