Valentin Ruckebier was born in 1997 in Wuppertal, Germany. He took composition lessons with Thomas Holland-Moritz and David P. Graham. Currently, he studies composition with Prof. Manfred Trojahn in Düsseldorf. As a young violinist, pianist, singer and composer, he is not only active throughout Germany and elsewhere in Europe - solo as well as in various ensembles, orchestras and choirs -, he has also won a lot of national and international prizes, for example he was awarded first prize at the International Timo Korhonen Composition Competition and received multiple first prizes at the national competition Jugend Komponiert by Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland, and the Vaillant Förderpreis für Junge Komponisten. Ruckebier attended master classes held by Jörg Widmann, Martin Christoph Redel, Dieter Mack, Marc Andre, Annette Schlünz and Theo Brandmüller. His pieces have already been played and interpreted by many renowned musicians e.g. Ensemble MusikFabrik Colone, the Ausburg Philharmonic Orchestra and Udo Falkner.
