Born and raised in Bonn, Sascha Dragićević studied composition with York Höller and Krzysztof Meyer, electronic composition with Hans Ulrich Humpert and piano with Klaus Oldemeyer at the Cologne University of Music from 1990 onwards. He attended composition courses with György Ligeti, Helmut Lachenmann, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mauricio Kagel, Klaus Huber and Georg Katzer.
Current collaborations include Collegium Novum Zürich, Ensemble Adapter, Ensemble Lux:NM, Ensemble Modern, Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie, Ensemble Cairn, Minguet-Quartett, Ensemble e-mex, Susanne Kessel,Johannes Schwarz, Sascha Armbruster, Peter Rundel, Jonathan Stockhammer, Gregor A. Mayrhofer, etc. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the 2014 Paris Scholarship to the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris. In 2012 he was Artist in Residence at the Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology (ICST) in Zurich, in 2011 he received the composition grant of the Berlin Senate. In 2010 he worked as a scholarship holder at the Institute for Music and Acoustics of theZKM in Karlsruhe, in 2008 at the Studio for Electroacoustic Music at the Hochschule für Musik Weimar.
Also in 2008 he was a scholarship holder at Künstlerhaus Lukas, Ahrenshoop (and will be again in 2020). In 2007 he was awarded the Franz Liszt Prize at the International Composers' Workshop in Weimar, in 2004 the Bernd Alois Zimmermann Scholarship of the City of Cologne, in 2002 the Prize of the Verein der Opernfreunde Bonn. In 1999 he was first prize winner at the International AVW Piano Composers Cup as composer and pianist. In 1999 he received first prize at the 13th International Composition Competition of the Musiktage Hitzacker, and in 1998 he also won first prize at the composition competition Forum East/West, Cologne.
As a pianist Sascha Dragićević gives concerts mainly with his own works. He works in the field of jazz and improvised music and appears as a sound director and live electronic musician in performances of his own works.
