Born in Belarus, studied with Johannes Fritsch and Michael Beil at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne.
Besides her compositional activities, she performs as a musician in various formations, for example in a duo with Constantin Herzog (analog synthesizers and double bass), with Florian Zwißler (electric organs and analog synthesizers), in the quartet MONOPASS with Florian Zwißler, Luís Antunes Pena and Mark Polscher (analog synthesizers) as well as in the Simon Rummel Ensemble.
Omelchuk's music has been performed by Ensemble Musikfabrik, Ensemble Garage, hand werk, ensemble mosaik, SWR Vokalensemble, Studio Dan, Schlagquartett Köln, Klangforum Wien, Radio-Symphonie Orchester Wien and Ictus Ensemble, among others, at ACHT BRÜCKEN | Musik für Köln, ECLAT Stuttgart, Wien Modern, Afekt Festival Tallinn, musikprotokoll Graz, Ars Musica Brussels and the Warsaw Autumn.
She has received various awards and scholarships, including the Bernd Alois Zimmermann Scholarship of the City of Cologne (2006), the scholarship residency in the artists' village Schöppingen (2007) and a residency at the artists' residence Villa Aurora Los Angeles/USA (2018).
In October 2019 her portrait CD of the Edition Zeitgenössische Musik des Deutschen Musikrates was released. In addition, she was nominated for the German Music Author Award in the category Ensemble with Electronics in 2019.
Oxana Omelchuk lives and works as a freelance composer in Cologne.
