Otfried Büsing was born in Delmenhorst and studied School Music, Church Music Practise, and Composition in the Master Class of Alfred Koerppen in Hannover. He held lecturing posts in the conservatories of Hannover and Detmold and was appointed professor of Music Theory at the University for Music in Freiburg. His compositions include works for musical theatre, orchestra, chamber music ensembles, as well as church music - and have been performed by numerous soloists and ensembles and broadcast by many radio and television stations. Amongst the numerous prizes and awards won by Büsing, the Fellowship of the Mozart Foundation Frankfurt, the scholarship granted by the German Academy of the Villa Massimo in Rome and the Composition Award for Church Music of the state of Baden-Württemberg stand out.
