Markus W. Kropp

Home / Composers / Markus W. Kropp

Kropps works move in the spheres of mostly tonal, contemporary music, they combine old traditions with the new, develop the Postminimalism movement on. Kropp's art music does not follow the dictates of new fashion - it seeks the contemporary in the intuitively intelligible. A critic of the Neusser NGZ wrote to his music of overflowing musical ingenuity, an extremely high virtuoso claim - and above all harmonies. Respect! That makes you curiousabout much, much more. So far, Kropp has composed almost exclusively for the piano. He usually performs his own works, premiering them, and afterwards shares them with other pianists. His works were published by Verlag Neue Musik and Musikverlag B36.
As a pianist, Markus W. Kropp graduated from the master class of the Russian School with Vitaly Margulis and he later completed a master class with Ana-Marija Markovina. In the past, he has been engaged in children's talk concerts and an entertaining show on the eras of piano music. This activity is currently suspended, as he concentrates exclusively on his own piano works. Another artistic activity of his is the piano teaching, which he serves with body and soul.
