Gregor Schwellenbach works as composer, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and producer in the border area between pop culture and classical tradition. His chamber music versions of techno and ambient pieces for the 20th anniversary of the Kompakt label attracted international attention. Since then, he has composed a symphony with Irmin Schmidt on motifs from the band Can for the London Symphony Orchestra, he has produced the album and concert programme Six Pianos, in which pop pianists interpret and juxtapose pop pianists Steve Reich, he has composed music for film, television and theatre and instrumental arrangements for pop artists such as Lambchop, Kölsch, Megaloh and Maxim. Gregor teaches composition and musical direction at the Institut für Pop-Musik of the Folkwang University of the Arts and he analyses pop songs weekly at the radio station WDR Cosmo.
