Barbara Arens (*1960) is a passionately dedicated piano teacher. She began her studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg at the age of 13. After a concert career performing primarily as a harpsichordist and organist, Barbara Arens returned to the piano with renewed enthusiasm.
Now she enjoys putting her diverse abilities and experience into composing at the pedagogical level - her aim being to write pieces as playable, yet as expressive and engaging as possible.
Five scores of hers have been published by Breitkopf & Härtel. Editions Musica Ferrum are proud to have published her Rendezvous with Midnight, All Beautiful and Splendid Things and two collections composed in collaboration with Alison Mathews: Capturing the Spirit of Christmas and Capturing the Joy of Winter. She's also composed pieces for the Mosaic serious. Her Twelve Pieces for Violin + Piano were published by Trinity College London.
She has self-published numerous collections for piano, cello, clarinet, flute, alto sax, horn and voice. A number of her pieces appear on the syllabuses of the British exam boards.
Mrs Arens presently lives near Würzburg, Germany, after living in Beirut, Dallas, San Francisco, Singapore, Salzburg, London, and Munich.
