Andrew Sigler's concert music includes works for chamber ensembles, orchestra, dance, theater, and film and has been performed by members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Symphony. Recent performances include Sparrows Jump Nine Sandpipers, chosen by Simple Measures and the Washington Composers Forum for the Air concert series, and Humor and Tremors chosen by NACUSA (National Association of Composers, USA) for performance at their National conference. Sigler has also recently been named a composer fellow for the 2012 Composers Conference and Chamber Music Center as well as the 2012 Seasons Festival. Andrew is a regional editor for NewMusicBox, the online presence for New Music USA (formerly Meet the Composer and the American Music Center) where he writes about new music. His music is published by Editions Musica-Ferrum.
His work in the commercial field includes studio work as a guitarist and vocalist as well as composition and sound design for video games, advertising, and animation for a number of clients including Microsoft, Google, T-Mobile, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Broke Down Outside El Paso won the 2006 East West Quantum Leap composition award for best use of their Colossus software. His string arrangements were featured in the award-winning Barbara Smith Conrad documentary When I Rise.
Andrew holds degrees in Theory/Composition and Classical Guitar Performance and has studied with or participated in master classes with composers Russell Pinkston, Donald Grantham, James Guthrie, Robert Beaser, and Michael Torke, and guitarists Manuel Barrueco, Eliot Fisk, Tom Wolfe, and Adam Holzman. He is completing his doctorate in composition at the University of Texas at Austin, where he teaches courses in theory and ear training.
