Description
My Travel Notebook is Angeline Bell’s seventh publication with Musica Ferrum. This collection features 21 imaginative intermediate piano pieces, suitable for ABRSM Grades 3–6, inspired by her journeys across the UK and around the globe.
Each composition within the book reflects the unique atmosphere of a specific location or experience, offering students the opportunity to explore a wide array of musical styles and colours. The pieces make use of distinctive sounds by incorporating unusual scales and modes, notably, the Phrygian Dominant mode is showcased in Jungle Trek , while the Japanese Hirajoshi scale features in Origami .
Designed for both teaching and performance, the collection inspires expressive playing and creative storytelling. The music ranges from the dynamic energy of Gladiators to the serene beauty of Windermere . Students will develop musical expression while encountering technical challenges such as syncopated rhythms, swift semiquaver passages, changes in tempo and dynamics, hand-crossing, and diverse articulation. The collection also includes two lyrical arrangements of traditional folk songs: Loch Lomond and Arirang .
All of the pieces from the collection are available to listen to on any streaming platform.
